How FitTimer handles your data
Last updated September 2026
The short version
FitTimer has no accounts and no servers of ours. The exercise sets you build, the workouts you log and the settings you choose are created and stored on your device, and we never receive them. The one way data leaves your phone is advertising: the free tier shows ads supplied by Google, and Google collects device and advertising information in order to serve them. PRO removes ads entirely.
What the app stores on your device
Three things: the exercise sets you build, including their names, blocks and any per-set sound settings; a log of each workout, with the set's name, when it started and finished, rounds and reps completed, and total duration; and your app settings, such as your chosen cue sound, soundtrack, vibration strength, theme and whether PRO is active. All of it lives in a local database that only FitTimer can read.
What we collect
Nothing. FitTimer contains no analytics and no crash reporting, and we operate no server for anything to be sent to. We cannot see your workouts, your history or your settings. Everything below this line is about Google, whose advertising and billing services are embedded in the app.
Advertising in the free tier
Free users see one full-screen video ad when a workout ends — after the celebration screen, or after confirming that you are ending a workout early. There are no ads anywhere else in the app, none of any kind during a workout, and none at all for PRO subscribers. Ads are served by Google AdMob. To request, show and measure an ad, Google receives your device model, operating system and language, your IP address (which indicates an approximate location), your device's advertising identifier where one is available, and whether the ad was shown, viewed or tapped. Google may use that information to personalise the ads you see, in the ways described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. In our own AdMob account we see only aggregate totals — impressions and revenue — never anything tied to you or your device.
Your choices about ads
In the EEA and the UK, Google's consent form appears when you first open the app, and the Ad Privacy row in Settings reopens it whenever you want to change your answer. Until consent has been gathered, no ad is requested at all. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID from the system Settings app, under Privacy and then Ads. On iOS, FitTimer never asks for permission to track you and does not read the IDFA, so ads there are not personalised using a cross-app identifier. You can also review Google's own ad settings at the link above — or subscribe to PRO, which removes ads completely.
PRO subscriptions and payment
PRO is sold through Google Play and the App Store. Those stores process the payment; we never see or receive your card details, and they do not give us your name, email address or billing information. What reaches the app is whether a subscription is active, along with the product identifier and the store's transaction identifier, used only to unlock PRO on your device. That entitlement is then stored locally alongside your other settings.
Permissions and network access
FitTimer requests no system permissions. It does not ask for location, contacts, photos, the microphone, the camera, or health and fitness data. It uses the internet for exactly two things: requesting ads on the free tier, and checking your subscription with the store. Building sets, running workouts and reading your history all work fully offline.
When the app opens something else
Tapping a legal or About link opens this website inside the app. Tapping Rate FitTimer opens the App Store or Google Play review flow. Those are handled by the webview and by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies, and we receive nothing back from either — not even whether you left a review.
Deleting your data
Delete a set or a workout in the app and it is gone from the local database immediately. Uninstalling FitTimer removes that database and everything in it. Because we hold no copy, deletion is final and we cannot restore anything for you — there is no account to close and no export to request from us. Data that Google holds from serving ads is governed by Google's own policy, and is controlled through the Google settings linked above rather than by us.
Device backups
If you have iCloud or Google device backup switched on, your operating system may include FitTimer's data in that backup. Those backups belong to you and are governed by Apple's or Google's terms, not ours. We have no access to them.
Children
FitTimer is not directed at children and we collect no personal information from anyone, of any age. Because the free tier is ad-supported, it is not suitable for anyone below the age at which their country permits data processing for advertising without a parent's consent. PRO serves no ads.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what leaves your device, this page will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. Questions are welcome at the address below.
